USI is an independent scientific society interested in the study of ocular inflammatory diseases. The society started as an informal society in 1999, under the patronage of Dr Narsing A Rao (USA), a doyen in the field of uveitis. Dr Carl P Herbort (Switzerland) was one of the key persons who laid the foundations of this society.The society continued to flourish under the patronage of Prof Amod Gupta (founder president of USI), Dr J.Biswas (immediate past president) and Dr V.Sangwan (President USI) and we now have more than 100 members from almost all states of India.
